Shake Things Up To Find Love

find loveLove won’t necessarily walk into your life if you only do things that are comfortable for you. To find love, it requires that you step outside your comfort zone and take a risk.

Lets face it, falling in love is a step into the unknown. Our daily life, with it’s routine and familiarity, can actually hold us back and hinder our search for the heady and exciting experience of meeting that special someone.

Doing the same things repeatedly and expecting a new result is insanity defined. So to get new results it makes good sense that you need to do new things. Shake things up a little.

They’re hundreds of ways for you to infuse your life with the spice of something new to find love. Just like a great cook, you can change the flavor or your life experience by adding some key ingredients. The things that work best are the ones that make you feel excited and even a little scared. That’s when you know you’re pushing yourself beyond your comfort zone.

You can shake things up in different areas of your life: physical, mental, or creative.

Here are some suggestions to get you started:

  • Explore physical pursuits that cause you to use your body in new ways: rock climbing, belly dancing or ice-skating. Join a volleyball team or a yoga class.
  • Look into challenging your mind, join a chess club, book group or take some academic courses.
  • Express your creativity by signing up for at pottery class, joining a writer’s group or becoming a member of a choir.

If you feel clueless as to what things will give your life a new spark, stay open to how you feel throughout the day. Become more aware of what you feel attracted to; maybe it’s gourmet food or watching dogs at the dog park.

A good way to find what will shake things up a bit is to going back to your childhood memories and rediscovering what you loved to do as a child.

This is what I did to find love:

Just before I met my husband, I felt the need to re-connect with my creativity. I’d been a working as an actress in my 20’s but left that career behind to join the corporate world and eventually ended up running my own business. But after 20 years I knew I had gotten complacent. I was still single and there was something I needed that the business world couldn’t give me.

So I made the scary decision to get back into the competitive world of acting, opening myself up once again to rejection and being judged. I got myself a commercial agent in Hollywood and I went back to a serious acting class.

I know for sure that the challenge and stimulation of reconnecting to my creativity changed my “energy” and my sense of myself. It was only a few months later that my husband walked into my life. I have no doubt that because I left my corporate comfort zone and shook things up to find love; I attracted the man I had been waiting for.

Whatever you choose to do to leave your comfort zone will give you an enhanced sense of yourself and expand your experience. By changing your energy, as I did, you will be able to leave the ordinary and make more room for the extraordinary in your life.
